At Kulick's you know our passion for fresh fruit pies, and this Blackberry Pie recipe is a great option for those that like a berry pie that is slightly less sweet than some other options out there. We made sure to balance this blackberry pie perfectly and its absolutely delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 pints fresh blackberries
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 homemade pie crust
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter (cold & cubed)
  • Egg wash: 1 tbsp water + 1 large egg
  • course sugar (garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare 2 traditional pie crusts for the top and bottom of the pie and place 1 pie crust into a 9 inch pie plate. (Click here for video).
  • Preheat the oven to 375F. Place a 12-inch round of pie dough into a 9 inch pie dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the blackberries, sugar, flour, and lemon juice, allowing a few berries to be crushed. Pour the filling into the pie crust and dot with the cubes of cold butter. Place the top crust over the berry filling. Press the edges of the dough together and crimp or flute. Cut 4 vents into the center of the top crust. Bake the pie for about an hour or until the crust is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling. Use a pie crust shield or aluminum foil to prevent the edges of the crust from browning too quickly. Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack for at least 4 hours before slicing and serving.
